Thanks for checking out the PHP ChitChat Message Board!

You will be able to set the board as a daily, weekly or monthly
board. Other features include message filtering for "bad" words,
IP blocking, a check to prevent double-posting, and having all
posts emailed to the admin. All admin functions can be easily done
by putting the commands right into the message pane of the board!
From there, you can delete posts, delete entire archives, manage your
"bad words" list and your "blocked IPs" list. Plus you can change
your password, naturally.

The nice thing about this board is you post messages and read messages
on the same page (as opposed to most message boards which are two
seperate pages).

To set up the script on your server, do the following:

Change the header.html and footer.html files to whatever HTML you want
as the header and footer for the message board. You can just leave
them blank if you don't want anything special.

Change the message.txt file to whatever message you want to print at the
top of your messageboard. You can leave this blank if you want.

1. Copy all the files to server, preferably in their own directory
2. CHMOD the files directory to 777 (world read/writeable)
3. CHMOD the archive directory to 777 (world read/writeable)
4. CHMOD ip.txt, passwd.txt, data.txt and strip.txt to 777 (world read/writable)
5. You don't have to use the index.html files, but if you don't want people
to read the list of files in your directories, you should use them!
6. Set up your options in chitchat.php to choose whether you want a daily, weekly or
monthly board, whether you want the posts emailed to you, whether you want the
messages in chronological or reverse chronological order, whether you want to allow
icons for the messages, and whether you want people to be able to enter in their
webpage address.

That's it! You should be able to use the board now!

You will call the script using chitchat.php (NOT chitchat_mainpage.php).

There are a lot of icons available to use. Just remove the ones you don't want to
use from the code in chitchat_mainpage.php. You can also obviously change the layout
of the board to suit your own needs.

#### how to do the admin functions - also listed in chitchat.php
#
# The default password is "admin".
#
# To delete a post, type this in the message box:
# command::admin::#[::archive] replacing "admin" with your current password, # with
# the number of the post you want to delete, and optionally, you can also add the
# archive you want to delete from. The default is the current archive.
#
# To change the password, type this in the message box:
# command::admin::change password::new password replacing "admin" with your
# current password, and "new password" with what you want your new password to be.
#
# To delete a series of posts, type this in the message box:

#
# If you want to block a partial ip address, you will need to add that to the code MANUALLY.
