Introduction to World Hearts For Java
World Hearts is a classic hearts game that runs on top of TCP/IP network.
In order to make to server and client plateform independent, we made them in Java. The protocol takes advantage of HTTP 1.0 so that the clients can be Java applets on any browser that supports Java
and can bypass most of the firewall's restrictions.
Click the links for more information.
- Server : A Java application that acts as a combination of HTTP server and game server. It supports POST, GET, and HEAD methods.
- Client : Java applets that read user input, display cards, chat, and communicates with the server.
- Protocol : The communication Protocol between client and server.
- Sample Client : A sample java client code for those who wants to write their own client.

Currently, the server runs with JDK1.1 and the applet client runs with JDK1.02. We plan to upgrade the client to JDK1.1 in the future when it is stable on most of the browsers.
There is also a plan to make the server to support multi-tables in the future. (Current version only supports one table for 4 players)
