What is DownloadMaster?

DownloadMaster is client-server program that can be useful to any LAN connected to the Internet, including ISPs. Its main function is scheduled downloading with resume feature to the local server. Server side is installed on the computer that is permanently connected to the Internet. Users access it by their Java enabled browsers. They can enter needed URLs and monitor download. They can log off any time but DM Server will continue downloading their files. DM can be set to download these files when traffic is lower (e.g. during night). When clients login next time, downloaded files will be waiting on the local server. DM Server can retry broken downloads and resume where it stopped, if remote server supports that option. DownloadMaster is consisted of three parts:

• DownloadMaster Server - it's Java 1.1 application that takes URLs from users and downloads them. You can put it on any computer - Windows, Unix or other.
• DownloadMaster Client - front end for clients to order URLs, monitor their download and manage them. Users load it through Java enabled browser - there is no installation required.
• DownloadMaster Administration - it's through Java enabled browser too. Administrator can manage users and adjust DM Server settings and schedule. If he wants he can allow users to create accounts by themselves.

Client and Administration applets use Java 1.0 so older browsers are supported too.

Administration applet

Administration is through web browser.
Default Administrator username is admin. Password is also admin. You should change it as soon as possible by choosing Actions panel in Administrator applet. If you forget your password, you can see it in file 'admin.ini'.

Administration applet has following panels: Users, Schedule, Settings, Proxy, and Actions.
