Troubleshooting FAQ
CGI
Q: I can't get my web server to execute CGI script refresh.bat.
A: There are Web servers for Windows that don't support .bat for
CGI files. In those cases, you should try to use refresh.exe which will just
redirect call to refresh.bat. You can do it by changing parameter CgiURL
in server.ini to point to refresh.exe instead of refresh.bat.
E.g.
CgiURL=http://host_name/dm-cgi/refresh.exe
If this doesn't help there are free web servers that works fine, like Xitami, OmniHTTPd,
Apache, etc.
Note: you can use second web server just for CGI! You can put it to different port, e.g.
8080 and change settings.ini accordingly:
CgiURL=http://host_name:8080/dm-cgi/refresh.bat
Q: My web server executes CGI script but it isn't working properly / makes no
output.
A: Problem is combination of JVM and Web Server you're using. Every CGI
script should reply with standard HTTP headers. However, if your JVM prints vendor
information or copyright notices every time you start - these additional lines are printed
before HTTP headers and confuses web server and/or browser.
Solution 1: Change JVM! JVM from Sun JDK have this problem, while JRE doesn't. Use JRE.
Solution 2: Change web server. Some web servers ignore lines that aren't HTTP headers and
don't deliver them to browser.
